43 photographs of the 4th Detroit Avenue Bridge in Rocky River. This bridge was built in 1908-1910. Its outstanding features were its twin reinforced concrete arches of 280 feet, a world record at the time. It was the first long concrete arch bridge to be built using steel truss forms, rather than wood and was the last one not to have reinforced arches. It was demolished in 1980. The pictures are of the bridge before, during and after its demolition. |
